Service reprogramming

Non-integrative microfluidic technology to generate hiPSCs from patient samples.

Mission

The VIMM hiPSC Biobank provides a specialized service for reprogramming somatic cells into high-quality human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs). We bridge the gap between complex cell engineering and accessible research tools.

Workflow

From biological sample to hiPSC delivery in 5 steps.

Sample Preparation

Biopsy or derived fibroblast collection as starting material.

High efficiency reprogramming

Somatic cells are reprogrammed into a pluripotency state using non-integrative mRNA on a patented microfluidic platform.

Quality Control

High-fidelity hiPSCs verified via protein-level pluripotency profiling and rigorous genomic integrity checks.

Scalable Cryopreservation

Standardized hiPSC expansion and secure storage in liquid nitrogen vapour.

Ethical Compliant Biobanking

Certified storage and distribution of hiPSC lines, ensuring full ethical alignment and formal regulatory compliance.

Technological platforM

The microfluidic method

Our method leverages advanced microfluidic technology to optimize mRNA delivery.

By choosing an mRNA-based approach, we offer the following key advantages:

  • Reduced manufacturing time
  • Preserved genetic integrity
  • Higher reproducibility through standardized microfluidic processing

Substantial Advantages of the Microfluidic DeviceSubstantial Advantages of the Microfluidic Device

Reprogramming is based on sequential transfections of short-lived mRNA encoding for Yamanaka factors:
POU5F1, SOX2, KLF4, C-MYC, NANOG and LIN28.
Exogenous mRNA has a cellular lifetime of ~24h, generating hiPSC colonies free of exogenous RNA.

Non-Integrative System

Improved mRNA delivery
Fast accumulation of endogenous cellular factors (positive feedback)
Low starting cell number required
High success rate: simultaneus reprogramming of up to 10 cell Lines simultaneusly

Revolutionary Microfluidic Method

Invented by our team of specialists (Gagliano O, Luni C, Qin W, Bertin E, Torchio E, Galvanin S, Urciuolo A, Elvassore N). Published in Nature Protocols (2019) and Nature Cell Biology (2019). Enables cost-effective cellular reprogramming services.
